If you mentioned it, it went on the to do list and then slipped my mind. :) I'm part way through. There are two effective (for advancing the story) moments so far. One is when the protagonist sees the wreckage of another pod and is elated but finds out that his shipmate has been killed. The other is when he sees what appears to be a tentacle, thinks it's some kind of monster, draws his gun, and then discovers that it's the tail of the monkey which becomes his companion. The science including the respiratory physiology involving oxygen metabolism is a bit wonky but that's just picking a nit.
